Lotus is long-renowned for its lightweight sports cars that deliver agile performance, exceptional handling and a focus on driver engagement. Building on a successful history in Formula 1 racing, Lotus’ aerodynamic designs and cutting-edge engineering have propelled the brand to championship finishes. All the attributes that we know and love about Lotus were injected into a special two-wheeled machine. But only a select few individuals will ever see such a bike in person, let alone ride one.
That’s because this C-01 is one of only 100 examples built. It’s best described as a “rolling piece of engineered art.” Hand-built in Munich, its design was drawn by Daniel Simon, whose storied career involved vehicle design for the widely successful 2010 science action film TRON: Legacy. The motorcycle uses a carbon fiber monocoque body shell along with a steel trellis frame and extensive titanium.
The C-01 riding experience is said to be raw and unbridled – after all, it is a bike without driver-assist aids such as anti-lock brakes or traction control. Rather, this machine demands complete and immersive engagement.
